I'll de Gorée is an island that was mainly used as a slave trading hub from the 15th to 19th century. In fact, it was the largest slave trading hub in the African coast. It has been ruled by the Portuguese, Dutch, English, and French. The slave owners lived in luxurious homes, while the salves lived in harsh slave quarters.
